PRESS RELEASE: Suitable Menswear Receives Fairtrade Certification
Suitable receives the Fairtrade label for the Respect clothing line. Discover how the menswear brand is committed to fair cotton and a more sustainable production chain.

'With this certification, we're even more certain of a sustainable product,' says Suitable founder and owner Raoul van Dun. The menswear specialist is no stranger to sustainability and social responsibility. They hold several certifications with which they strive for full transparency. Still, Fairtrade is special according to Van Dun: 'In Fairtrade we've found a sincere organisation that is committed to people's well-being. This goes beyond a better price, but also a fair livelihood. By investing in education and sustainable techniques, you create a better future that the next generation of farmers benefits from.'

Peter d'Angremond, director at Fairtrade Netherlands: 'the position of the cotton farmer is usually forgotten, while it's the first indispensable step in the chain. We therefore applaud that Suitable, as a frontrunner in menswear, chooses Fairtrade cotton. With this step, they make a positive impact on the lives of the people who grow the cotton and on the environment. Let this be an example for the industry.'

Responsible Business

Good quality doesn't have to be expensive or come at the expense of people and nature. With this in mind, Suitable menswear has been investing in a sustainable and fair production chain since 1996. The Suitable Respect line uses organic and sustainable materials and, where possible, natural dyes. The process is set up to produce high-quality garments that last a long time. To ensure this, Van Dun visits the ateliers and partners personally. During these inspections, craftsmanship, working conditions and safety are addressed. This gives customers the certainty that the Respect items have been produced in a responsible way. In addition, the designs are timeless, so they can be worn for several seasons.

About Suitable

For more than 25 years, Suitable has been the expert in sustainable, high-quality menswear. Since September 2022, circularly produced items have also been added to the range. What's more, in 2023 Suitable was named best menswear webshop for the third year in a row at the Shopping Awards.

About Fairtrade

Fairtrade's mission is to make the world fair. Through better trading conditions, they work to improve the living and working situation of millions of farmers and workers on plantations worldwide and to protect the environment. To this end, Fairtrade works with farmers united in cooperatives, in order to strengthen their negotiating position, achieve economies of scale and make investments in quality improvement possible. In addition, local Fairtrade teams support farmers and workers on countless topics such as management, sustainability and safe working conditions. They also roll out all kinds of impact programmes in the areas of climate change, gender equality, young people and child labour. Fairtrade's strict standards are independently monitored.
